John Wall and Patrick Patterson, the two leaders for the Kentucky Wildcats, played big today helping the team come from 11 points down for a 73-67 victory over Alabama  in the quarterfinals of the SEC Men’s Tournament in Nashville, Tennessee.

The heroic freshman, Wall, put the team on his shoulders scoring a game-high 23 points adding seven rebounds and five assists. But not to be out done was junior, Patterson, who scored 20 points and was absoluely clutch from the free throw stripe connecting on all eight of his attempts.

Freshmen guard, Eric Bledsoe, scored some timely buckets in the second half with forward, DaMarcus Cousins, fighting through double-teams all game long scoring seven points and grabbing eight rebounds.

The turning point in the game had to be, Darnell Dodson’s, three pointer just before halftime to bring the Wildcats (30-2) within five points at 35-30 headed into the intermission.

Despite Kentucky carrying their momentum into the second half the Crimson Tide (17-15) would simply not go away. Bama senior guard, Mikhal Torrance, continuously rallied the troops scoring 20 points while going 9 of 10 from the charity stripe.

Alabama dominated Kentucky on the glass, winning the rebounding battle 44-32 but somehow the young Wildcats willed themselves to victory.

After the win, head coach John Calipari said, “We need to get better or will be going home after the next round to get ready for that other tournament.”

Kentucky will play Tennessee in the semifinals tomorrow at 1pm on ABC. Haap.

Cincy 69, Cards 66

sosa-gets-an-earful-from-rick

Surprising early exit for the Louisville Cardinals in the Second round of the Big East Men’s Championship,
wednesday night in Madison Square Garden to rival Cincinnati, losing 69-66 in regualtion play.

Senior point guard and New York native, Edgar Sosa,
scored a season high 28 points going 10-16 from the field, 5-6 from the three-point stripe,
but missed some costly free throws down the strecth and was stripped of the ball on the final possesion.
Despite the loss for the Cardinals (20-13) , Sosa played very promising, leading the team in rebounding with six to go with his three assists. Fellow senior guard, Reginald Delk, also played well scoring 16 points.
Combined the senior backcourt scored 44 of the Cardinals 66 points.
But missing-in-action, was the third senior guard, Jerry Smith, because of a bum thumb.
Sophomore Samardo Samuels, scored 13 points and grabbed four rebounds but needed to get more involved in the offense.

The Cardinals will begin their second post-season tournament on Tuesday or Wednesday in the NCAA Men’s Championship 2010′.
More than likely at an eight or a nine seed and could be a trap game for a one seed,
if they can make it out of the first round. The Bearcats (18-14) will meet West Virginia at 9pm tomorrow night in the third round.
Cincy freshman guard, Jaquon Parker, had 8 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals; in the win.

Lebron = Unbelievable

Posted on 12 February 2010 by Tim

picture-21

If you are still on an NFL hangover, you may have missed the fact that the Cleveland Cavaliers have completely taken over the NBA.  And no one is more responsible than King James himself. Please check the highlights below (as incomplete as they are).

Skip to the 1:05 mark of the video to see the start of the finishing run with a Lebron fadeaway jumper, the 1:13 mark of the video for a ridiculous catch and pass Alley-Oop to Shaq, and the 1:24 mark of the video for a purely stupid/unfair spinning, fadeaway dagger as the crowd chants MVP.  Take the Jalen Rose analysis as you will (I love his enthusiasm, but I’m not completely sold on his game analysis yet).

By the way, this highlight package failed to show a Lebron driving layup (with 4:04 to go), a completely unguardable, step-back, foot-on-the-3-point-line-jumper (with 2:56 to go), an assist to Shaq (with 2:16 to go), and an outrageous step-back 3 from the wing (with 1:43 to go).

For now, check the link - HIGHLIGHTS (I will embed the video when I find a complete highlight package).

All said, the last 6:19 of the game, which the Cavs entered trailing 97-94, featured 11 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds from the King as the Cavs outscored the Magic 21-10 (and the Magic scored the last 5 points).

Do yourself a favor and look for the full highlights on SportsCenter, ESPNews, etc.  And for those counting at home, that’s 13 straight wins for the Cavs.

Sorry Kobe, you may be a better shooter/clutch scorer, but I’m with LB23.  The Lakers keep rolling without Kobe.  The Cavs roster is mediocre, but the King makes everyone look like All-Stars.  M-V-P….M-V-P….M-V-P.

Forever

 forever

The new video for Drake’s “Forever”, featuring Kanye, Lil Wayne, and Eminem, is one of the best videos I’ve seen in a while for the sole purpose that it consists of numerous Lebron James highlights from when he was a kid through high school and into the NBA. Haven’t gotten hyped like this from a video in a long time.

The song is also featured on Eminem’s, Relapse: Refill, album.

Delonte West: Come on, buddy

Posted on 18 September 2009 by Taylor

For those of you who aren’t aware, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Delonte West was arrested Thursday night on weapons charges.  No, this was a Plaxico Burress, I-shot-myself-in-a-public-place type of deal.  No, Mr. West was minding his own business, riding his motorcycle when he was pulled over in Maryland.  Police found a loaded pistol in his jacket, another one in his pants leg, and A SHOTGUN IN HIS GUITAR CASE, which was strapped to his back.  Really?  Really Delonte?  Good Lord.  Use your head dude - the real world isn’t Hollywood - people can’t ride around like they are in the Matrix, armed to the teeth, and not expect to get caught.

Who are you trying to be, Antonio Banderas??  Life doesn’t necessitate riding around with guns in a guitar case like ‘Desperado’ man.  It’s fairly simple (provided you aren’t a hardened criminal) to get a concealed carry permit in most states - we suggest you look into that after this whole deal blows over.

Best of luck in beating this case - hopefully you are ahead of the game and already have CCW permits for your guns.  If not, prepare to get got in the big house.  Best of luck to you.
